This Gibson Les Paul started as a natural standard from 1984. My customer wanted to take this and make it have the vibe of a 50’s Gibson gold top with a bigsby. So we lost the gold hardware and replaced the tuners with vintage correct Kluson replicas along with swapping out bridges to have all nickel hardware. Now we were down to stripping off that thick clear coat to refinish the top in authentic gold top gold with amber-ed top coats.
After the finish had hardened it was wet sanded and buffed to a brand new shine. This guitar was then to be aged to have the look he was looking for. Since I spray the same formulas sprayed back in the 50’s my finishes react exactly the same. Before installing the brand new hardware I aged the nickel to match the rest of the instrument.
After installing the bigsby and a proper setup this Les Paul is ready to go back to it’s home with a new look!
